Dr Bill Moulaison

Dr. Bill Moulaison grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and completed his Medical Degree at the University of Toronto in 1988. He served as a Medical Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces before founding the Shawnigan Village Family Practice in 1995. As long as he can remember Bill has always wanted to be a family doctor and he takes great pleasure in helping people and establishing long term relationships with his patients. He and his wife Lori have raised three lovely daughters here in Shawnigan Lake and call this place home. When he is not at the office, you might find him on the golf course, hockey rink, tennis court, hiking Cobble Hill or trotting the globe.

Dr Peter Kallos

Dr Meghan Chabot

Dr. Meghan Chabot grew up in the Cowichan Valley, and completed Medical School at UBC through the Island Medical Program. She continued her Residency at UBC in Victoria. After her training, she returned to the Cowichan Valley to set down roots. She now has a part-time family practice here at the SVFP, as well as working at the Cowichan Maternity Clinic, and as a doctor for the Shawnigan Lake School.  When not at work, she enjoys spending time outdoors and the fast-paced life that she shares with her husband, two young kids, and yellow lab.

Dr Maraina Smith

Dr Smith is originally from Napier, New Zealand. She attended University of Otago Medical School, both in Dunedin, and then the Wellington campus for her clinical years. After medical school, she worked in Wellington Regional Hospital as a house surgeon, and had a particular interest in indigenous health and pediatrics. She trained in General Practice through the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, and gained her fellowship in 2015. Her work experience has largely been in indigenous health and youth and adolescent health. After moving to Canada in 2015 with her husband and her then two children, she completed the PRA-BC to be able to practice as a family doctor in Shawnigan Lake. When she is not at work, she enjoys all sorts of crafting, drinking coffee, hiking Cobble Hill, exploring Vancouver Island, and spending time with her husband and five children. 

Dr Salem Alghbli

Dr. Alghbli completed his Medical Degree in 2009 and continued on to his residency at the University of Tripoli in Libya. He practiced medicine in Newfoundland before he started heading West. His next stop was Edmonton, where he worked on Medical Research at the University of Alberta, he continues to be very passionate about Medical Research and is currently working on a few projects. He then made it to Vancouver Island, got married and joined the Shawnigan Village Family Practice in 2018. He has always been interested in Family and Emergency Medicine, and loves everything about being a Family Doctor. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family and all sports, his favorite being soccer.

Dr Jody Anzarut

Dr. Anzarut completed her Bachelor of Science at Queen’s University in Ontario and continued on to Medical School at the University of British Columbia. She completed her residency at UBC and the University of Alberta. Before joining the Shawnigan Village Family Practice she previously had a full-service family medicine practice in Edmonton, worked with the first shared obstetrics group, in ER, and as the in-house doctor for Orthopedics and Internal Medicine. She has also spent time working in Victoria. While there she was actively involved in the Division of Family Practice as the organizer of continuing medical education for family physicians, and as the co-chair of the Community Building Committee. Along with her family practice, she also practices part-time in Duncan providing skin cancer care, and enjoys teaching medical students in the Island Medical Program. Dr. Anzarut has lived in Western Australia, Belgium, the eastern USA, and across Canada, but is now settled in Mill Bay, with her husband, a local surgeon, their 2 kids, a dog, and a cat. She loves caring for the health care needs of her community.

Dr Marina Sapoznikov

Dr. Marina Sapozhnikov immigrated to Canada in 2004. She worked in Alberta from 2004 -2013. She worked at the Shawnigan Village Family Practice from 2013-2018 when she took a break from having her own practice to work for the Rural Locum Program and worked all over rural BC. She has just recently rejoined the team at the SVFP. When not working she enjoys spending her time outside and with her animals.

Dr Kristi Zinkiew

Dr. Kristi Zinkiew completed her Medical Degree and specialty training in Paediatrics at the
University of Saskatchewan. She knew from the time she was 5 that she wanted to be a
doctor. She was fascinated by her family doctor, and wondered how he knew what to do in
order to make people feel better! Dr. Zinkiew originally thought she would be a surgeon, but
once in medical school, found working with kids was her favourite thing. She is trained in
Forensic Pediatrics and worked with the Island’s first multidisciplinary Child Maltreatment
assessment team for a decade. She has a particular interest in Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder, and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance (CADDRA). Dr. Zinkiew loves the challenge of medicine and the diversity of each
day. She may be in the hospital one day working with premature babies, or in her office
trying to sort out the difficulties of a teenager. Every day in medicine is different, and she is
constantly learning new things. Outside of work, she enjoys sports- skiing, skating, curling,
tennis, squash, and football are among her favourites. She plays piano and sings, and loves to
read. She has lived in Mill Bay since 1998, leaving the prairies for the warmer climes. They
have two grown children, and a puppy.

Billie-Jo Atkinson

Billie grew up in Northern BC and continued to move South until she ended up in the Cowichan Valley. Billie has worked in health care for the past 10 years, in many different roles and has found her work very rewarding. Billie joined the Shawnigan Village Family Practice in 2019 and is proud to be a part of a team that strives to provide exceptional patient care to their community. Billie enjoys reading, cooking, crafting and spending time outdoors. She also has a great love for animals, and can’t get enough of the Shawnigan Lake wild turkeys! She lives in Duncan with her husband, Brandon, their three cats, two birds and a snake

Bonnie Shortreid

Bonnie grew up in Northern BC, before moving to Calgary for about 15 years, where she met her husband. 2017 saw a move back to BC, to be closer to family and farther from the snow, and they now call Shawnigan Lake home. Her career has taken her from kitchens to cars to spas & most recently graduating as an MOA during a global pandemic. When Bonnie is not at work she loves to spend time with her family, friends, and her 2 dogs Finnegan and Harley.

Rosalind Evertsz

Rosalind has been working at the Shawnigan Village Family Practice since Dec 2019. She was born in Canada and raised in the UK from 7 yrs old. She has been living in Shawnigan Lake for the past 2 years and loves to spend her free time with her beautiful 14 yr old daughter. She is an avid horse lover and she has been a volunteer at the SPCA and Therapeutic Riding Centre for Children.  

Sarah Cochrane

Sarah was born in the small town of Crowsnest Pass, and raised in Calgary AB where she met her husband and built a family. When Sarah is not working you will find her with her head in her studies working her way to serve the community as an RN. She spends the remainder of her free time with her family, camping, hiking & enjoying the beautiful sights that BC offer.

Lisa Lafrance

Lisa has been working at the Shawnigan Village Family Practice since 2001 as our medical transcriptionist, having previously worked as a transcriptionist in the Medical Imaging field for many years.  Lisa was born and raised on Vancouver Island and currently resides in the beautiful fishing village of Cowichan Bay and raised her two children here with her husband.  Lisa is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys boating around the Gulf Islands sight-seeing and fishing/crabbing/prawning, camping all over the Island, and zipping around on day adventures on their scooter enjoying the beauty of the region!
