Covid-19 Information

Be Calm. Be Kind. Be Safe.

We are continuing to care for patients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, however we are limiting the number of patients coming to the Office. The goal of this approach is to reduce contacts and transmission of the virus to our patients and staff.

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE CLINIC IF YOU ARE SICK. There will be no charges for cancellations due to illness. Please call us to switch to a virtual visit.

For the vast majority of issues, patients will have a virtual visit (telephone or video) with the physician first to decide if an in person assessment is required. We want to assure you if an in person appointment is needed this will be arranged after the virtual visit.  For the occasional situation where an in office appointment may be needed without a virtual visit first, please express this request to the staff and they will review with the physician.  Please be patient and kind with our staff during this challenging time.

As part of our commitment to reducing transmission, we are limiting the number of physicians in our clinic at one time. Due to this, you may see a physician other than your regular physician if an urgent, in person appointment is needed.

Currently, we are not seeing possibly infectious patients in the clinic.  If you have symptoms that could be consistent with COVID-19 (even if another diagnosis likely), we have an Assessment Clinic locally we can refer you to at a virtual visit.

For in person appointments, please do not show up early. We ask that you please wait in your car and our staff will call you when it is time for you to enter the building. Please sanitize your hands prior to entering and put on the medical mask we give you. We ask that no one accompany you to your appointment.  Please also, do not drop by the clinic without an appointment. If you have any questions or concerns please call us.

Here is the link to the BCCDC page on testing information:  Please take the self assessment tool to determine if a test is needed. If it recommends testing, see below for Island Health Call centre Information. https://bc.thrive.health/

VIsit this link and take the self assessment test. https://www.islandhealth.ca/learn-about-health/covid-19/symptoms-and-testing.

After taking the self assessment tool, call the Island Health call center: 1-844-901-8442. Their hours of operation Monday-Sunday 8:30am -8:00pm.

You will be asked to leave a callback number rather than wait on-hold.  Calls will be processed in priority order during business hours but you may receive a call back after Call Centre hours, as we work to keep up with demand. Please ensure you provide a phone number that you can be reached at after our hours of operation. You will need your personal health number (or your child’s) available when Call Centre staff return your call.

Have your personal health number handy for any of these options:

  1. Access test results, 24-48 hours after testing, through MyHealth, a secure website that gives access to your personal health information. To log in, create an account, or request access to someone else’s MyHealth account visit www.islandhealth.ca/myhealth
  2. Sign up for results by text message.
  3. Call BC’s COVID-19 Negative Results Line 24-48 hours after testing at 1-833-707-2792, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 7-days a week.

The first supply of a COVID-19 vaccine has arrived in BC. Please note that the COVID-19 vaccine is not available for everyone at this time. Vaccines will be distributed in phases over the coming months. The first phase of 4,000 doses will be given to frontline health providers working in long-term care, assisted living, ICUs, ERs and COVID medical wards. Healthy providers will ensure the safety of the patients they care for.

Other priority groups will receive the vaccine in the coming weeks and months. It is currently anticipated that everyone will have the opportunity to be vaccinated in 2021.

It is unlikely we will have the vaccine in our office. Please review the links below for the most up to date information.

Thank you for your patience, and please continue to do all you can to prevent spread of the virus, and to keep you and your loved ones safe. This means wearing a mask when you’re out, limiting your contacts to those living in your household – especially over the holidays – and washing your hands frequently.
