Clinic Policies

Respect

We strongly believe in the dignity of all people and we strive to treat all with respect.  Our staff and physicians work diligently in a very busy office to serve your medical needs.  We appreciate that life may be stressful at times, however, it is our expectation that you will treat all of us at the SVFP with respect as well.  We have a zero tolerance policy for any verbal or physical abuse to anyone in the clinic. Such abuse may lead to termination of your patient relationship with your doctor and the clinic.  As communication is the key to solving problems, if you have specific concerns, please make an appointment with your regular physician to discuss them.

Cancellations and No-Shows

All appointments require 24 hours notification to cancel.  If you do not do this, you may be charged for this missed appointment at $40 for a regular appointment and $80 for a longer appointment (complete physical, counselling, drivers medical for example).  This policy exists to encourage people to cancel their appointments when necessary, so someone else can get in to see their doctor in a timely manner.  This policy does still apply to virtual visits and same day appointments as these appointments are incredibly important to people with urgent concerns.  If you have missed your appointment due to unforeseen circumstances, please let our office staff know.

Prescription Refills

All prescription refills are done by appointment only (either in office or virtual).  Your physician will provide you with enough meds until they feel your condition needs to be reviewed.  We ask that you try to book well in advance and avoid the use of same day appointments for this purpose.

Test Results

Your results are reviewed by your family doctor.  If there is specific action required or a need to review them, you will be notified to book an appointment to discuss them.  You are otherwise always welcome to book an appointment to review your results.

Timing

Our physicians do their best to stay on time during their clinic days. However, at times they may run late, as they can be managing unexpected urgent issues. Please know that they will get to your appointment, and if they need to reschedule then an office assistant will reach out to you.
