Dr Bill Moulaison
Dr. Bill Moulaison grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and completed his Medical Degree at the University of Toronto in 1988. He served as a Medical Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces before founding the Shawnigan Village Family Practice in 1995. As long as he can remember Bill has always wanted to be a family doctor and he takes great pleasure in helping people and establishing long term relationships with his patients. He and his wife Lori have raised three lovely daughters here in Shawnigan Lake and call this place home. When he is not at the office, you might find him on the golf course, hockey rink, tennis court, hiking Cobble Hill or trotting the globe.
Dr Meghan Chabot
Dr. Meghan Chabot grew up in the Cowichan Valley, and completed Medical School at UBC through the Island Medical Program. She continued her Residency at UBC in Victoria. After her training, she returned to the Cowichan Valley to set down roots. She now has a part-time family practice here at the SVFP, as well as working at the Cowichan Maternity Clinic, and as a doctor for the Shawnigan Lake School. When not at work, she enjoys spending time outdoors and the fast-paced life that she shares with her husband, two young kids, and yellow lab.
Dr Maraina Smith
Dr Smith is originally from Napier, New Zealand. She attended University of Otago Medical School, both in Dunedin, and then the Wellington campus for her clinical years. After medical school, she worked in Wellington Regional Hospital as a house surgeon, and had a particular interest in indigenous health and pediatrics. She trained in General Practice through the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, and gained her fellowship in 2015. Her work experience has largely been in indigenous health and youth and adolescent health. After moving to Canada in 2015 with her husband and her then two children, she completed the PRA-BC to be able to practice as a family doctor in Shawnigan Lake. When she is not at work, she enjoys all sorts of crafting, drinking coffee, hiking Cobble Hill, exploring Vancouver Island, and spending time with her husband and five children.
Dr Jody Anzarut
Dr. Anzarut completed her Bachelor of Science at Queen’s University in Ontario and continued on to Medical School at the University of British Columbia. She completed her residency at UBC and the University of Alberta. Before joining the Shawnigan Village Family Practice she previously had a full-service family medicine practice in Edmonton, worked with the first shared obstetrics group, in ER, and as the in-house doctor for Orthopedics and Internal Medicine. She has also spent time working in Victoria. While there she was actively involved in the Division of Family Practice as the organizer of continuing medical education for family physicians, and as the co-chair of the Community Building Committee. Along with her family practice, she also practices part-time in Duncan providing skin cancer care, and enjoys teaching medical students in the Island Medical Program. Dr. Anzarut has lived in Western Australia, Belgium, the eastern USA, and across Canada, but is now settled in Mill Bay, with her husband, a local surgeon, their 2 kids, a dog, and a cat. She loves caring for the health care needs of her community.
Billie-Jo Atkinson
Billie grew up in Northern BC and continued to move South until she ended up in the Cowichan Valley. Billie has worked in health care for the past 10 years, in many different roles and has found her work very rewarding. Billie joined the Shawnigan Village Family Practice in 2019 and is proud to be a part of a team that strives to provide exceptional patient care to their community. Billie enjoys reading, cooking, crafting and spending time outdoors. She also has a great love for animals, and can’t get enough of the Shawnigan Lake wild turkeys! She lives in Duncan with her husband, Brandon, their three cats, two birds and a snake

Bonnie Shortreid
Bonnie grew up in Northern BC, before moving to Calgary for about 15 years, where she met her husband. 2017 saw a move back to BC, to be closer to family and farther from the snow, and they now call Shawnigan Lake home. Her career has taken her from kitchens to cars to spas & most recently graduating as an MOA during a global pandemic. When Bonnie is not at work she loves to spend time with her family, friends, and her 2 dogs Finnegan and Harley. |

Rosalind Evertsz
Rosalind has been working at the Shawnigan Village Family Practice since Dec 2019. She was born in Canada and raised in the UK from 7 yrs old. She has been living in Shawnigan Lake for the past 2 years and loves to spend her free time with her beautiful 14 yr old daughter. She is an avid horse lover and she has been a volunteer at the SPCA and Therapeutic Riding Centre for Children.
Sarah Cochrane
Sarah was born in the small town of Crowsnest Pass, and raised in Calgary AB where she met her husband and built a family. When Sarah is not working you will find her with her head in her studies working her way to serve the community as an RN. She spends the remainder of her free time with her family, camping, hiking & enjoying the beautiful sights that BC offer.
Linnea Strom
Linnea is a Master’s Level Social Worker (UVIC) with additional training in Somatic Psychotherapy Coaching (Erickson College), and Palliative Care. Passionate about the good care of others in our community, she enjoys working collaboratively to support others. Originally from Vancouver (for her whole life previously). She moved to Vancouver Island 3 years ago and hasn’t looked back. When not working she loves being in nature, swimming, dancing, making food and art.
Shaun Baird
Shaun Baird grew up in Cobble Hill before moving to Vancouver to complete pharmacy school at UBC, where he met his wife, Lindsey. Following graduation, they moved back to the Island and lived in Victoria, practicing in a community pharmacy at Shoppers Drug Mart. In 2013, Shaun returned to the Cowichan Valley to set down roots and raise a family where he spent the next 11 years working in a community pharmacy practice. Shaun made the jump to Island Health, taking the position of primary care clinical pharmacist for the Cowichan Primary Care Network. He is now co-located out of 5 medical clinics and is thrilled that one of those clinics is SVFP. Shaun’s focus is on working alongside the physicians to optimize medication management and providing education to improve the health of clients. Shaun is a certified diabetes educator and has particular interest in diabetes management, weight management, deprescribing and reducing medication cost barriers. When not at work, Shaun enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters playing board games, exploring the outdoors, camping and swimming.
